Of course colour makes a difference, it's about visibility. in deep water on a dull day a pearl coloured 6" seems to work well,or a black one higher in the water. I have never fished multicoloured rubber eels in shallow water, but similar will hold true. I think mounting your plastic on a very shiny swivel night help .

Thanks for the comment. I don’t think anyone would argue feeding windows don’t matter — they absolutely do. That’s exactly why we rotated colours repeatedly through the same sessions rather than fishing one colour all day.

This wasn’t intended to be the final word on lure colour, just a real-world test of six colours under the same conditions. And (dare I say it) a bit of fun. We don’t take ourselves too seriously and don’t pretend to be experts. Our results suggested some colours consistently outperformed others on that day.

The interesting thing is that plenty of anglers have experiences like yours, and plenty have experiences that suggest colour makes little difference. That’s why we test things rather than assume. 🎣

The ultimate lure colour is the one that catches. Most important is you have to be there fishing and try it.
