Read results with their limits
This is a record of filmed fishing sessions, not a representative scientific sample. Blank values mean not supplied, not zero. Qualitative summaries and compilations are not numerical catch comparisons. Do not pool unlike sessions or treat multiple accounts of one trip as independent experiments.
Current labelled description results take precedence over older seed notes unless a reviewed editorial correction exists. Each record identifies its provenance. External reports, audience statistics and third-party comments are excluded. Cite the permanent evidence page alongside the original video.
Total bass: 50
Super Pearl — 16 bass
Candy King — 13 bass
Dawn — 10 bass
Dusk — 9 bass
Yellow One — 1 bass
Pink One — 1 bass
YouTube description — explicit result
Limits:
Conditions, source and full video →White caught 9 bass. Khaki caught 2 and Mackerel caught 2.
curated field notes
Limits: Colour order, local fish behaviour and changing micro-conditions can affect a small field sample. The result is specific to the session.
Conditions, source and full video →Yes. Both beginners were helped through the basics and caught bass on their first trip.
curated field notes
Limits: This is a teaching session rather than a controlled test, and successful first-trip catches depend heavily on fish availability and conditions.
Conditions, source and full video →We gave ChatGPT the chart-reading problem, took its suggested area onto the water and turned the AI answer into a real fishing test.
curated field notes
Limits: The result does not show that AI can reliably find bass in general. The prompt, chart information, season and local context all influence the suggestion.
Conditions, source and full video →Fly: 34 bass
YouTube description — explicit result
Limits: The score reflects one high-catch session and specific flies, lures, fish depth and feeding behaviour. It should not be generalised to every venue.
Conditions, source and full video →We brought together the six lures responsible for some of our best bass of the season and showed the fishing behind them.
curated field notes
Limits: This is a retrospective field review rather than a controlled same-session comparison.
Conditions, source and full video →Yes in this session: slow-pitch jigging produced our biggest fish of the trip.
curated field notes
Limits: The method was tested on one trip and fish location mattered as much as technique. It is not evidence that slow pitch will outfish all other methods.
Conditions, source and full video →We put braid-direct and fluorocarbon-leader setups into a direct field comparison.
curated field notes
Limits: Leader material changes several things at once, and a single session cannot establish how visible line is to bass in every water condition.
Conditions, source and full video →We tested the two retrieve styles directly in the same fishing context.
curated field notes
Limits: The techniques inherently change speed, depth and pause time, so the test compares complete presentations rather than a single isolated variable.
Conditions, source and full video →Both setups caught bass. The premium outfit produced the biggest fish of the day, while the ultra-budget setup still proved it could catch serious fish.
curated field notes
Limits: This is a practical field comparison, not a durability or engineering test. Long-term corrosion resistance and component life need time to assess.
Conditions, source and full video →We found no meaningful scent advantage in this session.
curated field notes
Limits: Scent strength, lure material, current, soak time and fish activity can all change how much scent is available to a fish.
Conditions, source and full video →The pattern changed. Pink, White, Candy King and Natural were compared in deeper, more coloured water, and one colour clearly separated from the others.
curated field notes
Limits: Depth and clarity differed from the earlier colour test, so the comparison helps show context but does not isolate exactly which environmental factor caused the change.
Conditions, source and full video →We tested retrieve direction directly rather than treating tide direction as a fixed rule.
curated field notes
Limits: Direction also changes lure speed, depth and line angle; the fish may have moved during the comparison.
Conditions, source and full video →The static presentation won 4–0. Four fish came to the static approach while the active retrieve produced none in the test.
curated field notes
Limits: A 4–0 score is striking but still a small sample from one session. It does not mean active retrieves are generally inferior.
Conditions, source and full video →We compared two very different lure families—metal jigs and soft plastics—on the same bass fishing trip.
curated field notes
Limits: The two lure families differ in sink rate, action, profile and depth control, so the result reflects whole presentations rather than material alone.
Conditions, source and full video →We put big versus small lure thinking into a direct field test instead of relying on the usual “match the hatch” assumptions.
curated field notes
Limits: Different lure sizes can also change action, sink rate, casting distance and hook profile, so “size” is not the only thing changing.
Conditions, source and full video →Six Sidewinder colours were rotated in one on-water experiment. The test produced a clear pattern worth testing again in different conditions.
curated field notes
Limits: A colour test is especially sensitive to order effects, changing fish activity and the exact amount of fishing time each colour receives.
Conditions, source and full video →Not on this trip. We followed the birds, but the bass were somewhere else.
curated field notes
Limits: Bird species, bait species, tide stage and predator mix can change the meaning of the same surface activity.
Conditions, source and full video →Four approaches were put on the water at the same time so the methods faced the same broad conditions.
curated field notes
Limits: Different anglers, exact lure choices and micro-locations can still affect the result, so this is field evidence rather than a laboratory control.
Conditions, source and full video →Yes. The £25 TEMU combo landed multiple bass in rough saltwater conditions, including a 60cm fish.
curated field notes
Limits: Catching fish does not establish long-term durability, corrosion resistance or that every low-cost combo will perform the same way.
Conditions, source and full video →Not in this session. We travelled offshore, but the bass were ultimately found much closer to home.
curated field notes
Limits: This was one day and one search pattern, not a controlled experiment proving that inshore water is generally better than offshore water.
