Thanks for those thoughts mate. Appreciated. So tell us more. What colours for bass work best and in what conditions. My experience is that natural colours like khaki work best alongside the white. But would welcome your own thoughts which will honk tomorrow database on Basslurefish.com for other anglers to benefit from. We’re all learning here.

The best colour is the one that tiggers fish on the day. I've done a lot of trolling for pike with multiple rods and on some days, it'll be one particular colour that gets the most takes, then you just switch other rods to that same lure/colour and you're hauling. When fish aren't active, it makes no difference what colour you use, when they are - it's often does - which is dependant on water clarity, time of day, overcast or sun, depth, etc. I think a lot of guys who lure f…

I've been bass fishing with lures for a while now and it didn't take me long to start doing well, a lot better than most I would say. Having an understanding of colour and when it can make a difference is something that will catch you more bass and no, pink and white are not the best colours - people only think they are as that's all they seem to use...

@BassLureFishi fish from the pier ...i use the standard black minnow ..I prefer pink or white or the white and yellow UV one because I fish mostly in the evening and sometimes in the night . Mostly I fish with the 8 and 10 gram ... sometimes 12 gram.

Thanks dude. White all day long. What about the white lures with red jig heads? So many patterns seem to have that for some reason. But it’s weird. No fish resembles it but it still catches. Maybe another test for me to do.

Hey man. Thanks for your observations. The lures were identical apart from colour. All same size. The 40g Ebbrox Titan Shad. Water clarity wasn’t perfect which might explain why white won?

Great video, it should inspire people to get out there after dark. I fish a white BassStick on my marks, 20g plus a 7/0, along with 30lb braid. I rivet big holographic eyes on too, glue doesn't stand up to being dragged through the rock and kelp. I'll have to check out Albie Snax. I fish it just like you, the slower the better, and get some heart stopping pulls. Sometimes it's tempting to try something else, especially if there's not much action, but I find it pays to just ke…

I fish it just like you, the slower the better, and get some heart stopping pulls. Sometimes it's tempting to try something else, especially if there's not much action, but I find it pays to just keep on winding, for one thing it's an efficient way to fish rough ground, and I lose very few lures. You definitely conveyed the anticipation and excitement of lures in the dark, that hit out of the blue at 03.00 that makes you wish you had worn undies beneath your thermals. Hanging on for dear life as a lump kites over the reef, heart thumping stuff. Thankfully we've got settled weather so I'll be on the night shift a couple more times at least before November is out, and hope it stays warmish. Good luck.

I'm glad you asked me what my plans were as I would appreciate your advice.
I'm fishing off the rocks in the med, six meters out 22 meters depth it's a good mark. I'm fishing lures for bass but... I fancy chucking a float out to watch while I'm spinning for bass but I don't have a float rod. So I'm looking at our old friend Alibaba, I'm in no rush and don't want to spend a fortune on it , but, what is a float rod ? Fast action, medium, slow ???. Three meters long, 2.4 or les…

Three meters long, 2.4 or less, I've no idea to be honest and the net throws up all sorts of conflicting information.
So, float fishing rod, six to ten Meters out, depth 22 meters, what do I need to buy ?
I'm sorry this is a long post but I appreciate your time to give this newbie an answer before I spend my money !
Cheers mate 👍
Doh !, I forgot to say a big thanks for your new video, but you know I love your shit and look forward to each new ting 😉
God, I'm rambling now but I'm a fly fisherman at heart who ties his own flies, I fish the sea in the off season. As I have a tying vice I pimp all my lures, hooks etc for the sea fishing with a little crystal flash and a few feathers in red, blue and white. I've found it makes a difference 😉
If this is too long for a reply, sorry, I've just joined Facebook if you prefer, I'm Billy no Mates on facebook, ha ha ,👍

Another great video thanks Matt, and well done on the Bass! I managed to get out for the first time in weeks to a similar mark here in South Devon, and I couldn't believe the amount of Whitebait & Bait fish that were being chased up on the shore, mainly by Mackerel I think. Well christened the new Lure rod with an SG Surf Seeker - I had 6 really good sized Mackerel for the pan! The guy I was with had a couple of Bass too. Stay safe & well - Dave. 👍👍

White Bass Stick is a great night time lure- I just keep my rod up and wind in very slowly. I put holographic eyes on them. It isn't a lure I would go to in the day though, I would probably choose something with a bit more movement. It is a good distance (22g) soft, as this slightly firmer plastic casts better, I can cover the reefs easily with the Stick. I've had some quality fish on it, check out my 78cm on Sidewinder's gallery.
