What this session suggests
The important lesson is context: a colour that struggles in one visibility regime can perform very differently when depth and water clarity change.
What this does not prove
Depth and clarity differed from the earlier colour test, so the comparison helps show context but does not isolate exactly which environmental factor caused the change.

Today we're putting one of the biggest questions in bass lure fishing to the test.
My son Monty and I spent a session comparing four Sidewinder Skerries Pro colours—Pink, White, Candy King and Natural—to find out which one consistently caught the most bass in the conditions we faced.
Rather than relying on confidence or opinion, we let the fish decide.
The last time we ran this experiment in shallow, clear water, White came out on top and Pink didn't catch a single bass. This time, the water was deeper and much more coloured... and the results completely changed.
One colour didn't just edge the others—it clearly outperformed them. More importantly, by the end of the session we understood why, and when we'd choose that colour in the future.

I've done a lot of trolling for pike with multiple rods and on some days, it'll be one particular colour that gets the most takes, then you just switch other rods to that same lure/colour and you're hauling. When fish aren't active, it makes no difference what colour you use, when they are - it's often does - which is dependant on water clarity, time of day, overcast or sun, depth, etc. I think a lot of guys who lure f…

When fish aren't active, it makes no difference what colour you use, when they are - it's often does - which is dependant on water clarity, time of day, overcast or sun, depth, etc. I think a lot of guys who lure fish for bass could learn a lot from good pike lure anglers, as most I see yapping away on YouTube haven't a clue. I've been bass fishing with lures for a while now and it didn't take me long to start doing well, a lot better than most I would say. Having an understanding of colour and when it can make a difference is something that will catch you more bass and no, pink and white are not the best colours - people only think they are as that's all they seem to use...

I find natural works best in clear water or white, and pink in murky or dark water, it’s all on water clarity and weather, depending on colour as you clearly have proven, that’s why it’s best to cover all bases when your out! Skerries pro are by far my favourite Sandeel 👏🏻
