Thanks for those thoughts mate. Appreciated. So tell us more. What colours for bass work best and in what conditions. My experience is that natural colours like khaki work best alongside the white. But would welcome your own thoughts which will honk tomorrow database on Basslurefish.com for other anglers to benefit from. We’re all learning here.

Pink vs White Lures for Sea Bass: Does Colour Matter?

The best colour is the one that tiggers fish on the day. I've done a lot of trolling for pike with multiple rods and on some days, it'll be one particular colour that gets the most takes, then you just switch other rods to that same lure/colour and you're hauling. When fish aren't active, it makes no difference what colour you use, when they are - it's often does - which is dependant on water clarity, time of day, overcast or sun, depth, etc. I think a lot of guys who lure f…

I've been bass fishing with lures for a while now and it didn't take me long to start doing well, a lot better than most I would say. Having an understanding of colour and when it can make a difference is something that will catch you more bass and no, pink and white are not the best colours - people only think they are as that's all they seem to use...

LURE FISHING SET UP UK - LURE FISHING FOR BASS - BEGINNERS GUIDE AND LURE CHOICES (UK SEA FISHING)

Thanks, interesting to see what others pack. I'm a big fan of teasers too, the white and chartreuse is my default night-time lure. I like the K2 also, but if you want a very shallow diver try to find MajorCraft DC12 or DC9, they cast twice as far (if that's important on your marks), and you can tune them to suspend, allowing them to be fished very, very slowly.
I think the Savage Gear loading wire is too thick, looks like plumber's solder to me. I use thick pure lead wire, 1.2…

Essential Bass Lures for This Summer- Experienced Anglers Honest Choice

Wrong, very wrong. Sometimes colour really makes a difference. Green is one colour that works for me really well in clear water estuaries and I've caught a lot of bass on pink lures when fishing in coloured water. You use a colour that the fish can detect the easiest and darker coloured lures are better for shallow or surface fishing. But hey, if you want to catch less bass, just use white or chartreuse...

Beginners guide to Lure Fishing for Bass PART 3

Great video Matt, night lure fishing has been very productive for me on weighted white soft plastics since I started, especially clearer water. I went out one evening this week and had one fish at dusk, then an hour gap of nothing then all of a sudden I had six more within half an hour and dropped a couple more all from the same spot. There was a shoal right in front of me all fish 50-60cm. Maybe the Bass are less mobile at night and hang around longer, so if you find them yo…

Funny thing is I went the night before same conditions and blanked. The joys of bass fishing!

The best way to catch Mackerel

I prefer to use small sabiki feathers using size 4/6 books attached to a lure, whatever I get my hands on which allows me to catch sandeels, mackerel and occasionally a bass or pollock. Anyway is same setup but baiting the books with slivers of mackerel especially if break are around. I call these rigs an all purpose rig as it allows the chance of bait fish as well of eating fish.
