Thanks for those thoughts mate. Appreciated. So tell us more. What colours for bass work best and in what conditions. My experience is that natural colours like khaki work best alongside the white. But would welcome your own thoughts which will honk tomorrow database on Basslurefish.com for other anglers to benefit from. We’re all learning here.

The best colour is the one that tiggers fish on the day. I've done a lot of trolling for pike with multiple rods and on some days, it'll be one particular colour that gets the most takes, then you just switch other rods to that same lure/colour and you're hauling. When fish aren't active, it makes no difference what colour you use, when they are - it's often does - which is dependant on water clarity, time of day, overcast or sun, depth, etc. I think a lot of guys who lure f…

I've been bass fishing with lures for a while now and it didn't take me long to start doing well, a lot better than most I would say. Having an understanding of colour and when it can make a difference is something that will catch you more bass and no, pink and white are not the best colours - people only think they are as that's all they seem to use...

@BassLureFishi fish from the pier ...i use the standard black minnow ..I prefer pink or white or the white and yellow UV one because I fish mostly in the evening and sometimes in the night . Mostly I fish with the 8 and 10 gram ... sometimes 12 gram.

Thanks dude. White all day long. What about the white lures with red jig heads? So many patterns seem to have that for some reason. But it’s weird. No fish resembles it but it still catches. Maybe another test for me to do.

Hey man. Thanks for your observations. The lures were identical apart from colour. All same size. The 40g Ebbrox Titan Shad. Water clarity wasn’t perfect which might explain why white won?

If your catching mackerel on a jig lure then change to a medium mackerel imitation lure and retrieve it like a wounded fish. Chances are if mackerel are there feeding on whitebait then bass are there picking out the smaller or wounded mackerel.

Mate I live in West Sussex. I often fish both low and high tides. However it seems near me the only action I ever get for bass is at night. But it’s really fast paced and often bigger than 3.5lb bass as a constant. I have pulled my longest bass - 86cm and my heaviest being 8.8lb. Both at high tides at night off the boat pontoons on white jelly lures called bass sticks. Size 4/5 weedless hooks on a 9ft bass rod. Great fishing if you’re interested mate let me know I can email y…

The good old trusty Seeker. Great video. Unlucky on those garfish. They have hard mouths and sometimes hard to set the hook. I use singles on my seekers, Trebles on my Patchinko and sub surface hard lures and singles on all my soft plastics.
I have been having some amazing sessions at my mark just east of you. The Savage Gear Weedless Sandeel V2 in white has been killing it. Best so far 6lb and 5lb with a fair few around 3-4lb mark. The 6lb i had was out on the reef at low wa…

Would love to get together for a lure session before the end of the season :)

Thanks, John. Interesting and I enjoyed your trolling hour, looked a nice little spot for it. Never been a fan of rays, but they are interesting. If you night fish again I would love to see live bait used. Last Sunday I fished on our friendly charter boat and we went for bass. We caught about 10 (all a good mark of fish of 5 to 8 lb) from a huge shoal that just lurked close to the bottom but weren't much interested in feeding. Highlight of the day was casting lures to the 'St…

@FISHISLANDTV forsure mate the brown (chocolate )water lure fishing isn’t easy, what I do is have one rod on self hooking bait rig.Which normally catches the big bass I’ve had 9 bass on that rod from 6lb to just under 9lb in the last 4 weeks in the monsoon up here lol.and I bring one lure rod for when I see baitfish topping, bass strikes,or any clearing in water on the ebb, then your need the right lure for brown water , brass spoons, yellow, shebert,or white eel lures, or red he…

Or flying c mepps red or yellow are good.also good time for lures in this brown water is small tides after 4 or five days without rain very rare in wales lol. The bass average here is very good probably the best anywhere I’ve fished in Europe so when you do hook one on lure it’s worth all the hassle lol. Iam back out this morning fishing in the chocolate water lol.anyway I hope this helps you abit at how to fish the brown water.tightlines mate😎🐟
Good upload , forsure I,ll always use a shallow diver before surface lure when I can ,as hook up rate is much better, and less work as you say,a really good diver for surface when there on the smalls is the yo zuri 3D inshore surface,A great bass catcher.Really well made upload as Always mate 👍.tightlines 😎🐟
