Scent may still matter in other situations, but it did not produce a meaningful edge here. Presentation and fish location remained more important in this test.

Scent strength, lure material, current, soak time and fish activity can all change how much scent is available to a fish.

In this BassLureFish experiment, Toby puts scented vs unscented soft plastic lures through a proper on-the-water UK sea bass test to find out what actually makes the difference.
Same lure profile. Same style of fishing. Same conditions. One question:
does scent actually get more bites, or does presentation matter more?
We wanted this to be an honest fishing test, not a sales pitch. So we fished both options side by side and tracked what happened on the water to see whether scented lures really gave us an edge when targeting bass.
