What we tested
A marine chart and fishing context were used to generate an AI-selected location, which was then tested by actually fishing it.
What this session suggests
AI can generate a location hypothesis from chart features, but the useful part is validating that hypothesis on the water rather than treating it as authority.
What this does not prove
The result does not show that AI can reliably find bass in general. The prompt, chart information, season and local context all influence the suggestion.

I wanted to know whether AI could genuinely help a beginner understand a fishing mark — looking at things like depth changes, reefs, structure and likely bass-holding areas — or whether ChatGPT would simply send me on a wild goose chase.
So instead of fishing one of my usual marks, I used the information from the chart, headed out with the lures and put the idea to a proper on-the-water test.
And somehow… ChatGPT helped put me onto a bass.
In the video I break down the process in a beginner-friendly way: what I showed ChatGPT, what it picked out on the marine chart, why those areas looked interesting for bass fishing, how I approached the mark, and what happened once I actually started casting.
This isn't me claiming AI can magically predict where fish are. It's an honest fishing experiment to see whether ChatGPT can help narrow down a potential bass fishing mark and teach a beginner what to look for.

Nothing beats finding a mark, working out how, when, where to cast and then building on it over a period of time,tides and weather conditions. Don't get me wrong i have caught plenty fish from boats but unless i'm in water shallow enough that casting makes a difference to the catch rate i always put all the fish i catch down to the skipper and his …
